Settlement reached between Professor Rodger and Google
Professor Rodger has secured a settlement of £260m on behalf of UK app developers. The Competition Appeal Tribunal has approved the settlement.

Professor Rodger will also seek to contact potentially eligible developers directly. However, you may still be entitled to compensation even if you are not contacted. If you think you may be eligible, you should register for updates and submit a claim once the claims process opens.
Professor Barry Rodger’s claim alleged that Google abused its dominant position to the detriment of a large class of thousands of UK app developers who needed to use its app marketplace, ‘Play Store’ or ‘Google Play’, to access their customers. The class action lawsuit sought compensation for the losses in revenue suffered by those individuals and businesses, many of whom are SMEs, from August 2018 onwards.
Professor Barry Rodger has settled his claim with Google. The settlement was approved at a hearing on 16 September 2026.
